WorkOut Program

WorkOut program benefits former foster care youth

When a youth in foster care turns 18, he or she finds that they have aged out of the system, meaning they are no longer eligible for many previously provided benefits and services. Instantly immersed into reality of today's world, these young people often need much help in finding their way to independence. Workforce of Central Florida and the Community Service Center have partnered to provide important assistance to this group of young people by creating the WorkOut program.

Over the past year the WorkOut program has proven to be a huge success in developing self-sufficient foster youth throughout the Central Florida communities. When foster youth turn 18, they no longer receive care, leaving them homeless and unaware of how to live on their own. Often times these youth resort to negative behaviors, hindering them from progressing into adulthood. WorkOut helps them transition during this difficult time.

WorkOut is an incentive-based program focused on assisting current and aged-out foster youth, ages 17 to 21 in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties. The program helps the youth develop a direct path towards employment and education through our partnerships with local businesses and organizations. In addition, life skills and employability classes our offered to further their success in transitioning out of the foster care system. With the WorkOut program, the Community Service Center of Central Florida was able to enhance the lives of over 60 foster youth and help them turn their dreams and goals into reality.

If you know a youth that has left the foster care system that could benefit from the WorkOut program or are interested in learning more about this program, contact Jessica Lindquist, Program Coordinator at 321-206-1589 or email at jlindquist@cscfl.com.
